Emergency Feed Fund
First Light Farm Equine Shelter is pleased to announce our EMERGENCY FEED FUND.
This fund will be used to help horse owners get through a tough period. We understand that hard times can make it challenging to properly feed a horse. We want to help responsible, loving horse and pony owners through temporary, difficult times so that they can continue to enjoy their beloved equines without having to skimp on feed.
You Can Help Feed A Horse In Need
The need is always greatest during winter months, but we need your financial support year round to help keep good horses with good owners. Too many horses end up being slowly staved, placed on Craig’s list, in kill pens, or even being abandoned because of the high cost of feed. Please consider making a generous, tax deductible donation to help struggling owners who would otherwise provide excellent care and nutrition for their horses and ponies.
If you would like to make a donation toward this fund to help us help horses in need, you can donate via PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail your donation to FLFES, PO Box 42, Auburn, ME 04210 . Please remember to indicate that your donation is for the FLFES Emergency Feed Fund.
Requests can come through the Maine Animal Welfare Program, from a concerned friend or directly from the individual in need. We only ask that the need be verified by a AWP staff member or another trustworthy source, such as a vet or farrier, or other equine professional. We would also limit this to one request per family/farm. We will also consider requests for other livestock such as goats, cows, chickens and pigs. All requests will be kept completely confidential.
The purpose here is to help someone through a rough spot. We will offer up to 10 bales of hay and up to two bags of grain (or shavings or combination) funding up to $75 per request. We hope to be able to fill one or two requests per month, hopefully more if we can get more donations toward our fund. As this fund grows, we will be able to help more horses.
This program will be offered to anyone in Maine who can demonstrate need. Would prefer to be able to send the money directly to the feed store/hay supplier via check or Debit card, rather than deliver the actual product. However, if it is a local request, we could possible deliver. It will depend on the situation.
If you would like more information regarding this program, please inbox us or email email@example.com or call 207.952.0325.
As always, we can only do what we do, with help from folks like you!
