We cannot save all the horses in the world, but with your help, we can save more. Thank you to my friend Jennifer Winchester of Spirit of Hope Farm, horse rescue in Winterport, ME, for providing the background vocals. She has an amazing voice, don't you agree? Continue reading →
The horses got out to stretch their legs in the snow. Except Major, he's recovering from an injury and can't go out and play. We help horses, ponies, donkeys, and other equines by rehabilitating them, providing medical care and love, and when possible, finding them new, loving forever homes. Continue reading →
Ready for adoption Abby is a 13 yr old Standardbred Mare. She's looking for her person to call her own. She likes to work and is smart. She wants to control stuff and will suck back a bit but she's learning to be more in front of the leg and forward. Continue reading →
Abby’s very sensitive to the leg. She’s fun to teach this. She wants to be a drama queen if you apply to much leg. She balls up and will even kick out at my leg. A light tap with the whip cures that. The leg yield is the best tool for building cooperation (submission) in a green horse.
Our dear Fern had to leave her friends recently for greener pastures. She was always our ever-ready spokeshorse. If she were still here, she would be sending you messages about hay, and that her horsie friends still need to eat every day.
As little as $5 feeds a horse for a day. Won't you please help by making a donation in Fern's memory? There are DONATE buttons on this page to make it easy, OR PayPal is email@example.com OR the mailing address is First Light Farm Equine Shelter, 1054B North River Road, Auburn, ME 04210
Our next delivery is in a week. $1200 will get Fern's friends through another couple of months. Please think about funny, engaging, quirky, happy Fern. Please think about our commitment to care for horses like Fern until they are homed or end their days. Please help us keep our promise to these horses. Thank you! ... See MoreSee Less
