Major’s Musings

I am doing much better, thank you!

Sorry – I have not been let out of my paddock/shed area for a while so this is my first time to update you all since my little mishap! Though Dr. Church sewed me up really well (I guess she did, I can’t really see it myself and she gave me a lot of stuff to make me not care that she was sewing me up) – I managed to tear open my wound again, which made healing take a lot longer. Thank you for my new blanket!

First Light Farm Equine Shelter receives donations of many kinds including cash, hay, grain, and equipment. I am so grateful for the support that helps me and all my equine friends that FLFES helps. Among the donated items was this blanket. Several blankets have come in as donations over the fall and winter and I am not sure who donated this particular one. But I wanted to be sure to show you how your generous donations are being used. This blanket fit me perfectly and due to its design, is exactly what was needed to fully cover my wound! Plus, I look good in it. Thank you!! Continue reading

Major Pain

Dr. Church is my friend. I know this. But hey, getting stitched up is not much fun. I rolled around in my stall, got a little stuck and cut myself. My people are making such a big deal about it. But, I guess that is why they are so wonderful. They always care about me and my herd mates and make sure we are well tended to. Some people saw my story on Facebook and thought I should be put down for such a serious wound. But they don't get the people at FLFES -- they are my forever people and will stick by me until it really is my time. Continue reading

Our dear Fern had to leave her friends recently for greener pastures. She was always our ever-ready spokeshorse. If she were still here, she would be sending you messages about hay, and that her horsie friends still need to eat every day.

As little as $5 feeds a horse for a day. Won't you please help by making a donation in Fern's memory? There are DONATE buttons on this page to make it easy, OR PayPal is 1stlightfarm@gmail.com OR the mailing address is First Light Farm Equine Shelter, 1054B North River Road, Auburn, ME 04210

Our next delivery is in a week. $1200 will get Fern's friends through another couple of months. Please think about funny, engaging, quirky, happy Fern. Please think about our commitment to care for horses like Fern until they are homed or end their days. Please help us keep our promise to these horses.
Thank you!
